August 19 -- Stork, clover

Stork, clover -- lucky changes, good move

Business is picking up a bit since we bit down hard on those who were using us and disallowed the tricks they were playing. Today, we got an email on the garage -- a woman changed her mind at the last minute a few months ago and now it looks like we have a new buyer. Today is the last day for one man to make good on empty promises of the last three months. Change occurring there as we are putting the place up for sale.

Since the reading was for today, let's see what else may come in the way of lucky changes or prosperous changes.

the trail of the cards

August 9, 2014:

mice, dog, child
woman, house, stork
sun, heart, scythe

Will business improve?

Here is house -- we make our living with houses, buying them old and decrepit and fixing them up or flipping them to those who want to do so. In some cases, we have fixed and rented them, but that business is not great, with only minimal success as we've found few good renters.

House is the center card. It is my natural tendency to want that card to be the center of the reading. It is the first card I drew and I laid it in the center. Next came the cards above and below the center card:

dog, heart (as concerns house): A house we care about, where we have friends --

Woman, house, stork -- Here, we are talking of traveling and this house. Woman signifies home owner. (Man could have done as well).

Our loyalty (dog) to a home may be influencing us to fritter away time and money on one problem after another -- there may be hidden problems, one thing after another breaks down. (as in the home in which we are living now -- or possibly the one we are about to inspect). A friend's child may have an interest in one of the houses.

mouse/house/scythe -- You may want to cut your losses and give someone else, who may have more resources, the opportunity to make a profit from an investment on one of the houses that needs more than you can give.

child, house, sun -- You may find that a child of the previous owner is interested in the house. Check this when it comes to the house that is up next on your work schedule.

mice, child, scythe, sun -- compare this to the cards yesterday, which also included mice, child and scythe. These are the perimeter cards. A lot of minor problems that fritter away time and money, the child (of a friend), clearing away what is not needed, good results and recovery.

Looking to the very next project that we have lined up. Two are simultaneous. We have this house where we live now. We made minor repairs and have others slated for the coming weeks. We are also traveling to assess and make repairs in a house we own and get it ready for possible sale. Since I asked about business, I believe the reading addresses the second. We will find there are many little things needing repair. The woman next door, a friend to the old owner may want to purchase the place for her daughter.

We have hired a fellow to go and cut the grass (scythe). There may actually be mice to deal with. Sometimes the cards are that direct.

The deck

I finally got my first deck: Mile Lenormand Cartomancy deck. I don't order things on-line all that much and it's not something you can buy locally. Even our trip to Asheville didn't produce a Lenormand deck, so I finally ordered this one. My first deck. It won't be my last.

The cards:
Rider, snake, fish
book, scythe, child
tower, boquet, mice

A dangerous secret involving a child ?

Here is the reason I should ask the question, not just say: "What's up."  "What's up?" is good with Tarot which tells you the matrix, the energies afloat, gives advice about intention and attitude as well as practical tips about possible actions to take.  All that, I'm sure, can be found with Lenormand, as well, but the question must be asked.

Another reading I did this morning suggests being vigilant in a new venture, (done with Tarot cards -- in a "what's up" reading), so I take it this addresses the same situation. In which case, I would read the foundation sentence: Danger in things you don't yet know and must learn about the new venture you are birthing.

I see in the rest of the reading, indication of the same. We have Rider or Journey or what these cards call "Cavalier", and we have business in the card: Fish. Mice, frittering things away and nibbling at resources that are best spent making long-lasting changes. (We are, indeed, frittering away resources with a visiting grandaughter who likes to eat out and buy bling).

Going back to the central card of trouble, we see trouble coming from the past, as well. We've already suffered loss and are not out of danger yet, but (with diligence), we may yet have a harvest of good fortune.
Off the cuff:  I think that as we travel north to assess a house we purchased and decide what to do with it, we will discover there has been damage or theft there. We purchased it in February, but other things arose that needed immediate attention -- and yes, we were, at time, frivolous with both time and money.  Now, we need to keep an eye out to mitigate the troubles and see that we reach a good harvest.

Not so bad for my first reading with the new deck.

heart, clouds, coffin

Jack of hearts, King of spades, 9 of diamonds

Ominous.  The experts tell me that pairing heart and clouds means there is a dishonest relationship. I would say confusion about a relationship. Isn't there always? Not me and Honey, though. We've figured ours out, pretty much in these many years since 1976 when we first say "I do" and then did.

But other relationships -- with friends, community, are ever in flux. Who likes us, who decided no to. Who is gossiping and who listening?  We've been together with people before and going along, doing fine, only to find we weren't so fine, after all. As my grandaughter said recently, "I don't know who to trust."

a year ago, we got knocked pretty hard -- but that can't happen again. Haven't given anyone that kind of power since. Nowdays, it makes me smile to watch the wheels turn as someone decides: for? against?  Are they good enough?

It looks like some cloudy relationship is about to end.  I don't know in what direction. Or how it hardly matters.

Cross, Mountain, Child

Gah!  So incredibly not true.  I'm such a baby at these new cards, I am, of course, turning to the experts to tell me what is being said.

Today I got Cross, Mountain, and Child as the outcome card. Cross is the subject, mountain the adjective.

The question simmering in the back of my mind these last several weeks is "where in the hell is my devotional focus?"  I can go by rote, but I'm not feeling it. I'm looking at these books I've collected so long and thinking... what is this? These people don't know any more than I know -- they're making shit up.  Well, a few of them I still look to with deference -- the big guys, Dion Fortune and Doreen Valiente -- those guys. But the dozens of pagan cookbooks I've got on my shelf with rituals and rhymes. They are beginning to irk me. I have loved these for a long time. But now, I'm wanting to send them on to whoever should need them, except I expect no one needs them. Things have shifted. Not only for me, I think. I think we've grown up and we don't need Reclaiming giving us rhymes or Silver giving us spells.

I recently fell head over heels for Arthurian legend. I mean, baby, I FEEL it. But it's not a religion is it?  Anyway, it was a distraction and I think it was to keep my mind busy a bit with other matters while something took shape. As one book of Merlin said, I  need to know which God is calling me.

May I digress and say, Frigga and Forsetti are my Goddess and God. Or have been. Lately, it's been more about the Ancestors than anyone else.

But the wheel is in spin.

It's THIS the cards was addressing. Lenormand experts tell me differently. But I know what I know. And I'm not into experts at this time.

What it is telling me and reassuring me with -- "you have built this devotion over many years, and it is taking a new turn, but this does not discard what has been built, it only takes it in new directions. Allow...."

on this story I am writing

Fox, ring, path
9 of spades, Ace of Spades, Queen of diamonds.

Rider, Fish, Scythe --

Ah but we knew, didn't we, that I'd never keep this going, day after day. I don't even own a deck of cards -- only a playing deck that I bought for 50c at the local mart, with the deuces through fives discarded. And I set off well, reading several times a day for a lot of folks -- good readings, too, backed up by tarot, by runes, or by I-Ching (as if to test myself).

But recorded daily here, like showing up for a day job? Nah. I knew it wouldn't happen.

Today's cards: 9 of hearts, King of diamonds, Jack of diamonds

Rider, Fish, Scythe

Yes. I do know what this is about. We will be traveling to take care of business. And we will end the dependency a few of our renters have on this willingness to take advantage of two people who have given them every break. One dude would rather have his dope and one would rather feed his church. I don't care what they do with their extra money, but I told them both to make paying for the roof over their heards a priority. I thought there might be a glimmer of intelligence in there somewhere. Perhaps, I valued them higher than they valued themselves. We've still not heard from Ham and Henry.  And so. Yes. We will travel.

In recent news, we were on a trip to Asheville and our truck was demolished by a man of the same cloth as those above, driving 60 in a 35 mile-zone and under the influence, without so much as a driver licence with him.  He ended up with his mother's car upside down in the road and he crawled out the broken window, without a scratch, and asked for a cigarette. Meanwhile, Our truck was totaled. We are now driving a small red car with better gas mileage. Guess traveling was in the stars.

which deck?

I may soon have my Lenormand deck. In the meantime, I'm reading the I-Ching and using my tarot. Something's up and the cards have been troublesome. Now, I-Ching (which had said Darkening of the Light) says we are at the point of something new.

July 10 -- thursday

6/8  Clouds/Coffin -- King of clubs/ 9 of diamonds

If I were using these as playing cards, I'd first notice that 9 of diamonds -- an unlucky card (nothing at all like 9 of pentacles in Tarot). 9 of diamonds is known as the curse of Scotland  9 diamonds were stolen from a crown of Queen Mary of Scotts and a severe tax was levied against the people until the cost was recovered. But the meaning most like the Lenormand is shown in the story of the the Butcher Duke of Cumberland who once wrote an order on a 9 of diamonds to kill all Scottish prisoners.

Here, in Lenormand, 9 of diamonds is the Coffin

The Kings of the playing cards represent Kings of the past. The King of Diamonds represents Ceaser Augustus, King of Spades = King David, King of Hearts is the French Kind Charlemagne, and King of Clubs represents Alexander the Great.

Here in Lenormand, King of clubs is Clouds

Is my card reading today, end of confusion or ending causes confusion? Clouds is the noun and Coffin is the adjective. Confused about endings?

According to Lenomand Combinations: Something is up and there is an end to confusion.

Note (July 15th). There is confusion of when to end something. Is it a good thing to stay here and fix this house. The money it would take to repair all that needs repaired would be more than the house would be worth in this location. Plus, this is not the location where we want to live. It is acceptable, yes. But it is not the best we can do.  At 60, there is no time to bide our time. These are not our people. Except those few who will remain no matter where we live.

Yesterday, we were both on the same wavelength and it may not have been a good one. Surely, it was confusing. I asked when we were going to begin the repairs and his reaction was something that made us both laugh (later). Because he went to get the repairs done on the truck (our ticket out of here).

Sweet little house with sooooooo many problems has been good to us. Kept us warm this past winter, for certain. But the lead paint, the crumbling sheetrock (which has been papered -- and then painted over the paper). The horrid carpets that cover an equally horrid floor that will need resurfaced. The water that drips. The fact that there is no shower and no tub -- and the bathroom needs extensive work to put it all to rights. The wiring needs redone -- we have no light at all in the kitchen and the outlets that are available in a few places pull out from the wall and are unsafe. The back of the house gets pelted with golfballs as the gold course owners (also the Mayor) won't put up a net. We have broken windows and dented siding. The porch sags and the poorch floor is about to fall through near the front door. The doors are bad as well and are another expense.  Yet, in this town, houses in good repair sell for $15,000 to $30,000. And this house would be on the low-end, even after repairs as it is a narrow company house on the main road, with a tiny yard out front and the golf course behind.

Confusion of how and when to move -- how much to spend on repairs before we leave -- whether to repair the place and rent it out or sell it as is for another to repair. And... there is the question of where we'll move. We think, maybe, Fayetteville. We think of Asheville a lot, as well. And we're thinking, even, of down near Princeton. There are reasons for each direction, and against each direction.

Yes, I have to say, the cards meant confusion about endings. Confusion first. About possible future endings.

The 2-card draw

Today's cards are Stork and Clover. I'm taking it that means the money's in the mail?  We've got to get the move on -- can't sit her all summer broke because our renters decide to vacation and dine on.... ok, that's not fair. I know same as you that they are doing what we all do - trying to make it happen. That's what I tell myself. Still, they can't make their problem my problem or I'll have to make my problem their problem -- and find new renters.

self-imposed schedules

I don't know why I set these goals -- Lenormand everyday? Sure, no problem. I have rituals I do every day, because I've built them into the morning. Drawing a rune or a card, reading I-Ching, or now, pulling two Lenormand cards are part of the morning. I see them, take note of the content (ominous or auspicious), and go on with my day.  It's the recording them here that might not happen.

Yesterday, my cards were auspicious. As it turned out, we were down to a few dollars and no one paying us. Getting these cards told me something would turn up and it did, in the form of a check from a renter who decided to pay on time (unlike the other deadbeats we deal with).

So, we got a bit of groceries and a few candles, had a coffee and tea at the lovely Wild Bean coffeehouse in the most pretentious small town in America (Lewisburg, WV), and came home.

Yesterday was also new moon. At new moon, I toss the bones to read on one subject or another. This time, it was for prosperity. My husband's token lay between the two auspicious markers, but on one side, surrounding one child, was two troubles. This formed a triangle with the stone of luck, and so, showed that with effort, the troubles could be overcome. The reading is more difficult to record than to know. There were subtleties I don't wish to go into at this time and in this space.

The day before yesterday, I read I-Ching (along with the Lenormand cards). I got MAKER, hexagram 2 -- basically, it says to keep plodding along in the direction you're going, with the patience of the Mare, not worrying the outcome, not looking behind you, and not as if you are in charge. Allow.  I'm sure it was better spoken in the Book Of Changes, but that's the gist of it.

All that being said, I might not get here every day to record the morning cards, but I will draw them every morning. And I will continue doing readings for others along the way. I've still to purchase or make a deck of Lenomand cards beyond these crude paying cards etched with Lenormand numbers. That, too, will come.

Clover/Mountain -- June 26, 2014

2/21  Clover, Mountain

I will test this one for myself. My instant reading of this was that it has been a long, slow climb back to a place where "luck" can flow with us instead of against us.

We have been blocked for a very long time. Doing the work, but not reaping the benefits.  Then, in the last couple of days, I see that a recent turn of events has all the marks of what might, by some, be called Divine Intervention, but which we think of as a little help from our friends.

One by one, our rental/sale properties were dropping from productivity as people fought each other, divorced, got health problems, succumbed to alcohol, went to jail and many other ways in which people sabotage themselves.   We had so little money coming in, we couldn't afford to buy groceries, fix our own house's problems, even buy a sweeper to replace the broken one, or a sewing machine to replace the stolen one.

We own a Victorian on Wheeling Island and the people who rented from us stole the furniture and busted holes in the walls before we got them out of there. We depended on the rent money and that was gone. Many other such things were going on at the same time. One fellow, on a rent-to-own (low rent, low interest), refused to make payments but wanted to stay in the house. On and on it went.

Then we got a call from a fellow who wanted to buy the Victorian if we would carry the loan. We agreed, sent the paperwork. I believe he is honest, but having just moved to that area and finding the house to be in disrepair from the ne'er-do-wells who lived there previously, could not make the first payment on time. We worked with him on that and now, half payments are coming every two weeks instead of one payment a month.

He also asked about other houses we might have for sale there as his employer is seeking houses to buy.

I think this is the situation being addressed.

When I look up the meaning of clover paired with mountain, however, I get "luck is blocked".
When I look up the meaning of mountain paired with clover, it means, "Things are looking up, problems end well."

I will come back to this and assess which is meant by today's cards in which mountain modifies clover.

Lenormand Day -- June 25, 2014

24/20 -- heart, garden

You have to think these out carefully. Why would heart and garden mean uncommitted? That is one meaning of this pair. It also means, as I thought on first seeing them, that your heart is not apart from community. A gathering of like-minded (same heart) people.

In short:  You have Tribe.

My gods, how I looked and longed for Tribe.  In my searching for them, they evaded me. We would approach, but I was too helpful, too giving. It is a failing. I could give astrological reasons why, but it would sound like excuses -- which it isn't.  Nevertheless, it seemed once I became familiar with folks, they would judge me lacking and move on. Or... something of that nature.

It was only after I gave up -- and tried to shove them away -- that they came.

Now, there is this huge Tribe of which we are a part and the smaller Tribe of the coven. And there is my Heart Tribe -- husband, children, grandchildren.

Since the great fiasco of 2012, and the angry folks we fell in with at that time, (and the subsequent removal from them), I've learned to keep as well as give, to be speak as well as be silent, to get out of my head and into communication with others. And to listen carefully to not only what they say but what they are saying.

I was talking with my oldest sister on the phone yesterday and suddenly realized I was listening in a different way. Instead of hearing her judgments of me (I'm going to hell), I was hearing her pain. Instead of responding to her criticisms, I was giving her reasons for hope. I turned each thing she said (and only once resorted to talk of the weather as a diversion).  She is Christian, but not a Believer.  That is, she follows the form, but has not really dived, and is terrified she'll make a mistake. She's frightened of everything. I'd given her Gibran's book, The Prophet. She returned it, angry about its contents, fearful she would be contaminated by thoughts not in the Bible. (She won't enter my house - the house of a Pagan -- for the same reason).

She lived with two abusive husbands. The first, bound to whiskey and pills, beat her. The second kept her with domination of his Christian religion. She is free of them now, but not of what they built. I heard all of that and let her talk. It was our best conversation to date.

What do I think these cards are saying?  I think they are a confirmation that we do, truly, have Tribe. I don't need to be as cautious as my sister, afraid of messing up and getting kicked out of the kingdom.  Mom said it best when I was a child, "If you whittle yourself to meet everyone you meet, pretty soon, you don't have any stick left."

making your own deck

I'm saving this to watch in case I ever make my own deck:

http://www.donnaleigh.com/apps/blog/show/42413615-how-not-to-make-a-lenormand-and-how-to-choose-a-readable-deck

I'm finding the deck of cards I'm using most for Lenormand right now is a deck of playing cards with 2's, 3's, 4's, and 5's removed.

Luck rescued me

23 (mice) and 2 (clover) -- 18 (dog)

18 (dog) and 22 (key)

mice and clover. Clover conditions or influences mice.

mice: tired, worried, something lost or missing, illness, contaminants in the home, stress, loss, anxiety, theft. Clover is the influence.

If the cards were reversed, I'd say it means good luck is frittered away, but this direction means whatever it is that is in a state of disrepair or ill-ness will recover because luck is with us.

The "official" meaning to this combination according to this site says: worry, butterflies in the stomach. I don't see the meanings combining to say that.

What I feel today is that I am recovering from a malaise which plagued me for a couple of days now. At the end of an illness and not having the basic things we need is beginning to be wearysome. (And yet, not seriously so).

Today, I've got my mojo back. THAT's the thing I take away from this. "If you've been worried, you now have a turn of luck."  That's my sentence for this combination.

My third card was then, dog.  And this came up again in a second reading, not associated with the first.

friend and loyalty -- then Dog and Key -- an important (key) friend (dog) -- or  a friend is revealed, a friendship unlocked.

change is

10 (scythe), stork (17), dog (18)

The changes you are making are cutting away the past and moving on toward friendship.

What is important begins at home

coffin/house

change of residence

WISH!!!

Yes. I do wish it. This town, so small and dirty and we travel 30 miles to buy groceries. I'm 60 as is my husband. We want to live where things are. We want to walk among art and music and choose our food from co-ops and farmers' markets and work in a community garden and exchange goods.

Ah.... but we have found tribe here. There is that.

I did a second reading this morning:

17 10 14
36 32  9
33 24 31

down, center: scythe, moon, heart
across, center: cross, moon, boquet
corners: stork (changes), fox (cunning, or job), sun (exposure and good luck), 33 (means and solutions)
diagonal l to r: stork, moon, sun
diagonal r to l: fox, moon, key
recognition (moon) of challenges and sacrifices (cross) brings a gift (bouquet)
bouquet and cross sacrifice -- moon recognition --

Today:

I sorted books. Chose a couple boxes of books, some of which I've had for 12 to 14 years. Such a great library. Half what I once had. I gave books away to people I thought were interested -- beloved books -- only to find they trashed them or stashed them on some hidden shelf never to be seen again. Amy comes to mind. And Dakota. Chris. Lynn. --- (give recognition where recognition is due).  Now, I'm selling them. Cheap enough for those who care -- but I'll not again whittle them away to fools.

Why have I been that way in the past?  Giving way too much to way too many. What is that? What failing? My Dad had it too. It was seldom he could make it home with his paycheck intact. He'd give away his shirt if asked and once came home without his boots because some "poor fellow" had none and his feet were cold. (I've done the same -- once taking off the shoes I wore to give to someone who had none and wanted them).

There's something wrong in that.

It may be I've learned a bit since then. I hope it's so. The "frugal" don't interest me. It's another word for stingy. But generous must also include fairness.  Charity begins at home is not that bad where advice comes in.  What cards would say this?

I'll ask and see.

4 13 22 -- house(or home), child (beginning), key (what is important): Literally: What is important begins at home.

... a quiet day in the town of Rainelle

I think we're all waiting for rain.  If it would rain, neighbors would come outside and sit on porches and the kids would run in the yards and splash in puddles and leave small craters in the grass to slowly fill with water.

My cards for this morning were: Dog, Ring -- loyalty and commitment. The only correspondence today was the RTO trying to locate our monthly payment on the storage bldg.

Meanwhile, I'm downsizing. Sold my electric cauldron/soup kettle. Have dozens of other things I'm tired of. But I do go back and forth on that, don't I?  On the one hand, some winter days, I enjoy all the clutter. On the other hand, I mostly do not enjoy the clutter and would love to travel light. There is fat chance of that, of traveling light. Books line all available space not taken up with other books. I would, at times, dismiss with the books as well. I have lost interest in even my most beloved books. It's summer.

Alright then, to what am I loyal? And to what do I commit?

We are in that space where nothing is quite together. Not enough money to fix the water leak, buy a vacuum cleaner, install a shower, fix the electricity in the kitchen, fix the brakes and other ailments of the trusty vehicle, or go anywhere. We could use a couple more fans or maybe an air conditioner as there is no air in this house. Sounds like I'm complaining, doesn't it?  I'm not. I feel rather blessed.

But change is in the air if not on the ground and I'm ready -- we're ready -- to step into it. If it were up to me, I'd start piling things out of that outbuilding and out of this house and have a grand yard sale. Things would go. I would collect space.

To what am I loyal? To what do I commit?

Family. Today's version of the truth. My ever-changing path?

We are on the verge of change (she says again). "change, change, change, change...."

a trip to the town of used-to-be

mountain, stork

moon, clover

So strange. One real someone who is always real, an earth woman and her little girl. Soon, they may make changes in the little town of used-to-be.  She's finishing school and the future is opening. With this and the cafe across from her, maybe the town will change -- again.

It doesn't take much to shift energy. Not really.

Here are three cards to describe this lovely earth woman and her plans:

Ship, birds, stork
She has traveled for her studies and exchanged and exchanges ideas and now she'll buy from the tired woman whose energy has moved on and a renewal and change will come to the place. A new focus. a new life

The town of used to be may yet become the town of new beginnings.

Sunday -- June 15

Jack of Diamonds (Heart), Queen of Diamonds (Crossroads).

That Queen of Diamonds is following me these past several days. It looks like the times they are a'changing and what was is not and what is won't be.

What are you bringing, Mama?
I know that each change is wrought by me in response to the my surroundings/situation according to my ability and opportunity. I know that slowly create opportunity.

What was is not. Old programming is fading out. I accept the new place and the transient nature of all that seems sturdy as these mountains (which also are subject to change).

June 13 -- Saturday

34, Fish (King of Diamonds) and 17, Stork (Queen of hearts) -- an improvement in areas of commerce.  A new business venture that brings good change.

We went into the wilds today -- up in the Monongahela National Forest. We went exploring the old prison site. Each found something. What did I find?  Herbs and sunshine. And due to Trish, we found a cache -- one of those hidden boxes full of bits of things -- you're to take something, leave something. I left my pentacle ring (only thing I had with me besides the clothes I was wearing). I took a green guitar pick.

It was Heather Broyles birthday -- we stopped at Mumsey's for cake and with it.

June 13 -- Full Moon

My morning cards were: Woman (Ace of Spades) # 29 and Path or Road or Crossroads # 22 (Queen of Diamonds)

The path splits in two directions at this point.

At breakfast, Honey told me he agrees we need to disentangle ourselves a bit from the constant business and take on someone younger who will help with footwork. We are putting the house in Wheeling (we bought in February, sight unseen and have not yet seen) into the newly forming business. It means relinquishing some of our resources in order to have help in management. I did other readings on this subject. Each day, I do no less than 6 readings with Lenormand cards, while keeping my hand in with Tarot and Runes.

Desiny: snake, dog, book, road  -- A winding road with questionable or divided loyalties when finding out secrets in two directions.

Surrounding P (the man) is fox, moon, lily

                                         bear, sun, clouds

Man is good with maps and information, but fritters time/money and is "eaten at" by many interests. Mice causes muddied reputation to the management. Exposure hidden by clouds and confusion.
Man not sure if he's the manager or the worker, not certain of his place in the scheme of things. He seems to be the worker, but is the manager.

About the house:

moon man whip
lily ring cross
stars fish bear

Man commits to commerce -- man signs contract
Concerning valuables, all is not what it seems
Old couple (previous owners) were religious -- lily ring cross
check the attic and the kitchen carefully (stars, fish, and bear)
arguments may arise with church/charity over resources. (whip, cross, bear)

June 12 -- home/road

King of Hearts        Queen of Spades
    #4                               #22
  house                         crossroads

Books on playing cards shed no light on Lenormand cards today. King of Hearts and Queen of Spades, according to DESTINY cards were Father and Mother. According to Fot Choy's Book of Luck, the cards mean Enjoyment and Seasons (timing).  Seasons in the house of enjoyment say that in time you will be connected with a charitable organization where you will serve or be a guest at a dinner or entertainment event to collect money for a good cause.

Lenormand meanings (which are what I will go by) tell me that someone has reached a point of decision concerning real estate. (We are in the real estate business). This could be a fellow who decides if he meets his deadline (which is today). Having bluffed his way through the month of May, we sent an official agreement that gave him this date as the to pay up or get out.

Nothing else has come up today to prove otherwise. Since there have been no calls (birds) or letters, I am assuming this is happening "out of sight" and we'll know about it later.

comparing meanings -- June 11

Today's cards were 8 of clubs and Queen of spades. In Lenormand cards, this is mountain modified by boquet.

I have heard from some readers of Lenormand that the second card modifies the first one. Others show that the first card "brings" the second. In other words -- Mountain/boquet would read endurance through the obstacles brings a gift. At the very least, the troubles would be softened by mountain being paired with boquet.

Using the second word as the cause of the first or influence or what feeds the first would cause me to think that Mountain (obstacles and hardships) are being caused by bestowing gifts or being generous. We were generous in our releasing the lien on a piece of property, but we were also lightening our own load, as the long-term solution would cost more time/money/energy than we are willing to give. I believe this is what the cards are saying. Our gift has affected the hardship in a positive way -- mountain then leads to boquet, as well as being responsive to it.

Lenormand cards are straightforward, but I am new at the readings. In this for less than a week, I have memorized images, basic meanings and numbers of the cards, as well as being well on my way to memorizing the playing cards associated with each Lenormand card. I do believe I could read "lenormand-style" with a regular deck on which I had not made notations of image or number.

I am spending no less than two hours a day on the cards at this point, making sure one of those hours is just before bed and the other as close to first thing in the morning as possible.

OTHER SOURCES:

I took the liberty of looking up the playing cards -- 8 of Clubs and Queen of Spades -- in other sources.

From Destiny cards (made popular by Robert Camp who found them in a book from 1893 by A member of the Order of the magi, Olney Richmond):

8 of Clubs is a card of mental power -- the ability to foucus your thoughts, mind and will on a goal or objective and see it through to successful conclusion. Usually applied to a mental or educational task, it bestows power to overcome problems by focusing your thoughts. Usually shows up in the cards when there is a need to learn to accomplish on the mental level. It is a fixed card (one of 3) that allows opportunity to fix our minds and wills on certain goals. (For the long-haul, success is assured if we hold our focus true).

Queen of Spades (from the same source) is a card of self-mastery. Sits in a place of high accomplishment. We are given an opportunity to achieve success in external life by mastering ourselves within. (To attain the outer, train the inner). It is a method of using inner force rather than outer force to create outer change.

From Gong Fee Fot Choy -- Book of Fortune, by Mararete Ward, 8 of Cubs (Mountain) is called Achievement.  Queen of Spades is called Gratitude "Someone bequeaths a gift and generates or radiates gratitude."

The book from 1914 by Charles Shrewsbury TELLING FORTUNES BY CARDS, does not give clear meanings that help here. 8 of Clubs is said to be a brunette, possibly unmarried who will win admiration from accomplishments. So, it too, carries a bit of the meaning of "mountain".   Queen of Spades, in this book, is given the meaning: a dark lady with dark eyes and an open and generous disposition -- a woman who is subject to flattery and the card is said to sometimes mean well-founded distrust.

In all cases, there is a bit of the meaning of Lenormand cards. Not to muddy the waters, but... it does seem to hold true for these cards. I will continue to do this with the daily cards and see what a few other sources have to say.

Numerologically, 8 is a sign of strength and of troubles that build strength. Mountain seems to be a card of endurance as well as blockages ???

Morning cards -- June 10

Today's two-card draw was letter/scythe.  I got a phone call within an hour of drawing these cards. A couple who have paid for years on a building we own in a small southern West Virginia town decided they can no longer afford to keep up the payments. They were willing to drop the building.  After consulting with the cards in a grand tableau, it seemed our best bet was to cut them slack and allow them to gain their footing. We released the lien against them.

first steps

Nagging over on the corner of my interest was a hub-bub of conversation form tarot readers I admire -- Mary K. Greer, Caitlin Mathews, and new (to me) Donneleigh (among others). They were bubbling about a new interest in an old method of reading. I declined to look or listen beyond placing book and deck on my "wish" list at Amazon.

As finances haven't pulled back up from the farm fiasco or my husband's health issues of the past couple years, I didn't order a deck or a book, but kept the thought there that I would look into it when I had a handful of dollars at my disposal.

Then, one day, (June 6) I more or less accidentally tuned in to one of Donneleigh's Lenormand videos on memorizing images and numbers.  I paused the video to jot down the images and numbers (knowing I'd seen those images before).  I watched the video twice and memorized the numbers and images in order. She makes it that easy.  Eventually, I remember where I'd seen the images before -- I once owned Titania's Fortune cards. Never used them much as I had no context for them. They were astoundingly accurate the few times I drew one (and looked up the meaning in the accompanying book).

Armed with my new list of images and numbers, I found an old deck of playing cards, discarded deuces, threes, fours, and fives and wrote the new numbers on the cards, recalling (but not depicting) images as I went along.

I did my first reading that evening:

rider, book, clover, key, anchor

I decided to jump in with both feet and offered readings to a few of my friends, explaining this was brand new way of reading. I back each reading with runes to make sure I was on the right path, and gave answers largely based on the cards (with runic nuances in some cases).

Some would think this foolhardy to give readings the minute you lay hands on a new system. I've been reading in other ways for 14 years -- tarot, runes, geomancy, I-ching, playing cards, prediction techniques of numerology and astrology. Though this system is new to me, it is very like a daily reading I've done for years with a divination system called Gong Hee Fot Choy which involves playing cards in houses.

When I see 8 of hearts, I know it is the Moon. When I see Ace of Spades, in this system, I know it means woman (in playing cards, it can mean death). I know how to blend the energies of the cards with the house they are in or with other cards.

Yes, I have much to learn, but it is almost as if I am remembering rather than learning. So... off to this old new adventure!
